The purpose of the SAG is to provide the City with valuable local insights to help guide the design and installation of the eglintonTOday Complete Street Project. The SAG consists of representatives from businesses (BIAs), resident groups and other stakeholders from the project area.
The 6th SAG meeting was held on July 18th 2024 and addressed the ongoing data collection plan for our neighbourhood and the traffic operation adjustments being made to the Allen & Eglinton intersection.
Below are some highlights of the meeting:
· The installation of the eglintonTOday Complete Street Project between Chaplin & Bathurst and Glen Cedar & Eglinton has been postponed until at least 2025.
· MioVision cameras have been permanently installed at the Allen & Eglinton intersection capturing real-time traffic volumes and conflicts.
· Signal changes were made on July 10th to the Allen/Eglinton intersection. An extra 10 seconds was added to both east and westbound movements, which upon preliminary study has resulted in an approximately 10% increase in the number of westbound vehicles being able to pass through the intersection.
· The city has been conducting motor vehicle volume counts on a quarterly basis since winter 2023 to compare seasonal changes before and after the Complete Street installation.
· Transportation Services will be tracking the impacts of the Complete Street installation currently taking place along the Eglinton Way (between Chaplin & Avenue). The city anticipates that adjustments to traffic operations and light timing east of the Allen will have a positive impact on regulating westbound traffic flow in proximity to the Allen Road.
