eglintonTOday Stakeholder Advisory Group – March 5, 2025

April 13, 2025
Traffic & Safety

The Stakeholder Advisory Group had its fifth meeting on Tuesday, March 5th.

The City’s full presentation and meeting summary can be clicked on the active links. Below is a quick summary of what was shown and discussed:

·     The Complete Street was installed in The Eglinton Way BIA (Chaplin to Avenue) in fall 2024, with other areas along Eglinton set to implement Complete Street elements this year.

·      The CUVCG successfully paused the Complete Street implementation on Eglinton (between Old Park/Glen Cedar to Marlee) until traffic improvements are made at the Allen/Eglinton intersection. See motion passed at the IEC (Item – 2024.IE13.2)

·     Over the past year, the City has gathered traffic counts and vehicular volume data to explore solutions for congestion at the Allen/Eglinton intersection and reduce residential infiltration.

·     Preliminary analysis shows that widening the Allen northbound ramp would significantly improve traffic at Allen/Eglinton, though it would require time and substantial investment.

·     A motion passed at the February 5, 2025, City Council meeting to study redesign options for improving the Allen/Eglinton intersection. The city will report back with a recommended work plan by Q1 2026. (MM26.12)

·     An interim process is being presented to make more immediate improvements to the intersection and collaborate with the community to reduce traffic infiltration.
