eglintonTOday Update - September

September 16, 2024
Traffic & Safety

The eglintonTOday project was approved by the City Council on May 22, 2024 Item IE13.2.

The first segment of phase 1 of the eglintonTOday Complete Street Project is to connect the existing complete street infrastructure between Avenue Road and Yonge Street with protected cycle tracks, all-day parking, and pedestrian and accessibility improvements.

Currently, in coordination with the Eglinton Way BIA, the city is installing a segment of the eglintonTOday Complete Street on Eglinton Avenue West between Avenue Road and Chaplin Crescent (see map of key changes between Avenue Road to Chaplin Crescent above). The work, which includes sidewalk repairs, road resurfacing and cycle tracks, is expected to be completed before the fall.

Once complete, we will be able to monitor the impacts of and identify any challenges that result from the Complete Street Project in this area. This information and data will help us inform the future design of the Complete Street in our neighbourhood between Marlee & Bathurst.

The CUVCG has advocated and worked with the city to delay the installation of the Complete Street Project between Glen Cedar Road and Marlee Avenue until proper data is collected and adjustments are made to improve traffic operations at the Allen & Eglinton intersection. Installation is not planned until 2025.
