Arista Homes is proposing a 19-storey, 185-unit, mixed-use condominium building at the northwest corner of Eglinton Ave W & Castle Knock Road. The site contains several two-storey buildings currently tenanted by retailers such as Starbucks, Honey and Bagel House.
While another 7-storey building has been proposed across the street, many community members are particularly concerned about the scale and height of this proposal.
Now that the LRT is built, Eglinton will continue to see new development popping up along the corridor, due to proximity to transit. Development will bring energy to the community, but we must stay informed and be mindful of what’s happening.
Developers look at precedent decisions as a base for new proposals, but local residents and businesses always have a chance to sit down with developers and city staff to discuss and negotiate things that are important to the neighbourhood such as vibrant retail and services, beautiful public spaces, and access to parking.
